Forming good business habits

Tax and compliance can feel like added complexity when running a business, but establishing reliable systems builds resilience, reduces stress, and improves decision-making. Building reliable habits early in the year sets you up for fewer surprises and more control over your financial position. Here are a few practical habits which go a long way:

  • Use digital tools. Platforms such as Xero streamline processes, reduce admin time, and support better cash-flow management. Subscription fees are tax-deductible, and if we manage your Xero subscription, you receive a 15% discount. Contact your client manager if you’d like to know more.

  • Maintain solid records. Good record-keeping helps you meet obligations accurately and gives you clearer insight into the financial health of your business.

  • Seek advice early. Timely advice makes it easier to navigate changes or uncertainty. If you have significant personal or business changes on the horizon, please reach out.

  • Plan for obligations. Setting aside GST, PAYG withholding and super throughout the year ensure the funds are available when it’s time to lodge and pay. If you’re concerned about meeting lodgement or payment deadlines, let us know so we can explore your options.

If you would like to book in for a mid-year check-in early in the new year, or if you have any questions about the above, please contact your client manager or call our office on 02 9716 5120 to schedule a time.
